Sticks and stones may break my bones...but what about snow?

So after stopping Sheffield to (sadly!) have out photo taken we headed off into the mountains towards Arthurs Pass
Which was pretty spectacular! It wasn't long however until we chanced (well not quite chanced but it felt a bit like it!) upon Christchurch's sledging mecca! We really are not prepared in the kiwi sense of the word...we hopped out of the car to find the barbies on with the smell of sizzling sausages filling the air! We felt rather unprepared as we approached the near vertical slope with our flask of bena and some cereal bars! Hey ho!! We'll learn!
And did we have fun???

If anyone can pick out the red mark on my chin.....that is where Dan lobbed a snow (ice) ball at me! So kind! Anyway we had a great time and felt about 6 years old! No doubt we'll be back there soon, this time with the BBQ! And especially for those who have read Neil and Nat's blog, this is the lake photo! People were ice skating and apparently they even have a game of ice hockey on the lake!!! More daring than me!
