The rest of the tramp!

It was an amazing tramp! Though Dan laughed at me when I say this as I had the WORST descent experience ever! The climb to the top, although exhausting and VERY hot was well worth it for the amazing views!

However my least favourite bit of any tramp is the descent! Bad knees and a dislike for going downhill meant that the 600m near vertical descent via a scree slope to end all scree slopes took me somewhat longer than most and was a tough experience for Helen the patient (refer to MT hutt skiing experience last Sept!) who accompanied me down! To be honest the terrain wasn't as un-enjoyable as I had thought, it was more the fact that I was SOOOO tired! Helen got a little tired of me sayting how tired I was too!!!! Anyway an hour after the boys got to the bottom, we joined them with bruises and scrapes to tell the tale!!

Onward to the hut (in the dark!!!) which was another experience altogether involving a very mean member of the tramping community but we shan't go into that! The four of us decided to stay in our tents! Minus 4 degrees overnight! But we were quite warm in our sleeping bags and awoke to an amzing morning, mainly awoken due to the Keas who were cheekily landing on our tents and chewing at our tent loops!!! Cheeky birds!!

Onwards after brekkie and some photo stops to head back to the car! A beautiful walk out, with only the last hour being a little roasting and tedious along the Waimakariri River Bed! Prone to floods.....no chance of that this weekend though being that there was hardly any water in it at all, quite sad really!

So all that was left to do was get some food, take off our boots and head back to Christchurch after a FAB weekend with our lovely friends to meet up again later for a huge curry! Yumm!
