Just not enough snow....

We tried to go skiing again today! Dan had the most amazing day up at Mt Hutt on Monday where he managed to do some blue runs! He came home with epic tales of the numerous wipe outs he had had and the blues runs he had done in a white out! Was very glad to be hearing the stories when I knew that he had all limbs in tact! But it sounds great and I was peeved to know that he is now officially better than me! Not hard though and of course totally based on our competetive natures!!!!!!!
So it was sad to see that Porters had suffered in the recent nor westers and the beautiful snow that had covered the mountains last weekend had now disappeared! So the concensus of the group was to pass! Carley, Mike Dan and I proceeded to sit in the sun drinking coffee reading the paper and taking in the amazing views! Hard life really!
We then ventured out to Castle Hill to Cave Stream. A neat little cave that you can go through. We didn't go through it today as the water was freezing, as confirmed by me when I decided to try dipping my toes in! Very refreshing!! We are looking forward to going back to go through in the winter. The area and the views were gorgeous and we had an enjoyable mooch around before heading to springfield for a pie and then heading back to Christchurch.
A disappointing start to the day in terms of the snow turned into a lovely chilled enjoyable road trip!

we went through that cave a year or so ago - it's SO cool inside - you HAVE to do it next chance you get. we even sat in the stream at the top in our togs enjoying the sunshine & cool water... it must have been summer! xxx
