After lunch we headed out to Port Chalmers which is out towards the coast. An industrial port which ahs become quite a centre for funky little antiques stores, quirky bits and pieces shops, art galleries and cafes! Very nice! But we moved on through to go to Aramoana, where, on November 13 1990, 13 people were killed by a single gunman and the town was held hostage for 23 hours. Last year they released a film which had been written about the tragedy and Bridget and I had been to see late last year. It was very eerie to be there, but despite being remembered for that event, it was a beautiful place. We took a walk along the water break and found 4 seals basking in the wind and rain! It was even more freezing than the morning!
We mooched on back to Port Chalmers with the intention of buying a coffee and getting more lemsip for Dan who wasn't feeling well! Got the lemsip....but the cafe was shut! As the All Blacks were playing France later that evening and we have already decided to that we would be going out to watch the game, we also decided that the Speight's Ale House would be as good a place as any to defrost and warm up (with a huge meal and a pint or two to go with it!!) A great night it was too, excellent food, great company, really good beer (I for one discovered a new favourite....Speight's limited edition "Fireside") and an All Blacks Victory!

So dunedin!
After a wonderful nights sleep on a surprisingly comfortable air bed we awoke to be greeted by drizzle, freezing wind and mist! SO English! Not that the weather stopped us, we were off to the Cadbury Factory for "the tour"!
I have to say a bit of a let down due to it being the weekend and the factory tour not being available, the chocolate fall was quite impressive and the freebies were enjoyed! After the tour, we ventured to Larnach's Castle, which would have been a VERY impressive drive were it not for the fact that we couldn't see further than the car in front! So we decided not to look round as there were no views and it was miserable weather! That will have to wait until our next trip!
We did however visit the beach.........all I have to say about that is beautiful.....but flippin freezin!
