Pancake Rocks!

Pancakes have now become a stable part of my monthly diet. I have to go for brunch at least once a month though French Toast is getting close to taking over. These however were pancakes of a different kind!
After freshly baked bread fresh eggs and muffins (and a giant spider- Becca and I have never moved so fast!!) AND a great nights sleep we set of in the rain for Pancake Rocks. A classic location for NZ photos. It wasn't the best weather but as we found out it made the whole thing even more spectacular!

From the Geology geek......I could go into the detail of formation!

Apparently the best time to go is on a really rough day when the tide is coming in. We didn't get perfect condition so the blow holes weren't great but I think this picutre gives a bit of an idea, the water comes at great force and is pushed up under pressure through the crazy rock formation and bursts out of the top. When they are in full flow, it is much bigger than this (apparently!) so this is a pretty piddly picture! The coastline is amazing and we all wandered around kind of in awe! We had cameras out constantly.....photo geeks! Here are some more!

The wonderful West Coast

Getting close to the rocks, geography and geology in action!

Can anyone see the face?
